Laurence at the ABV rally on the Somme 2006 It is with great sadness that I have to report that Laurence Monkhouse, one of our Vice Presidents and one of the earliest members of the SBA, died in hospital on the afternoon of 15th June. I'm sure you will join with the committee in sending condolences to Christine and his family.
Press Release 1 Press Release 2 On Saturday 28 June at around 09:00, SS Robin, the world’s oldest complete steamship, will leave London for Lowestoft at the start of a £2 million restoration project to transform her into London’s newest visitor landmark.
The latest version of the SBA's Steamboat Register is now available online! It contains details of nearly 600 steamboats with 1400 high-resolution photos. The same version is also available on CD for those without broadband or who prefer to work offline.
The Consuta Trust have run into unexpected difficulties with Planning Permission for the proposed floating boathouse which is intended to help preserve their historic vessel. Artist's impression by Michael Vicary. The date for the Appeal Hearing is set for 15th July. It will be held in the West Berkshire Council Offices, Newbury starting at 10:00am. There will be a site visit, probably in the afternoon. Any interested third party can attend.
Correction: The dates for the Windermere Lay-up Supper are 03-05 October.
In September, the QE2 & QM2 sail together for the last time from Southampton. Waverley Excursions, operator of PS Waverley, have arranged a cruise to view these great ships and escort them as they leave. Included in the package are opportunities to enjoy sailings on board PS Waverley, SS Shieldhall & MV Balmoral.

	SBA Services' Boiler Design Library is now available from Julian Garrett. Price £5.00. The CD contains detailed information and a GA diagram of all of the designs in the library. The full construction drawings are available for each boiler at a cost of £50 per design.
