| HULL | Replica 1788 pleasure boat Built 1988 by Dumfries & Galloway College of Technology at Dumfries. Designed by Patrick Miller. LOA: 25', Beam: 7', Displacement: 5 tons. Clinker larch on oak Twin hulls, tiller steering. |
| ENGINE | Newcomen Twin, 4" x 18". Built 1988 by Dumfries & Galloway College of Technology. In port side hull, two open top Newcomen type cylinders, wooden frame, chain and ratchet wheel drive to two paddle wheels. Engine has never been tried under steam. |
| BOILER | Present regulations do not permit working boiler being built. Dummy boiler constructed by students to outline of original, mounted in frames within starboard hull. |
| PROP | Paddles, two, 8 floats each, placed fore and aft between hulls. |
| HISTORY | Built as a replica to designs of Patrick Miller (hull) and William Symington (engine), at the suggestion of David Landale, present owner of the Dalswinton Estate where original trial steaming took place on 14th October 1788, Ref: Scots Magazine, November 1788. (Restored original engine of 1788 on display in the Science Museum, South Kensington). |
