Clinker mahogany
Transom stern, varnished, wheel steering.
ENGINESingle, 2¼" x 2".
Built 1975 by S.J. Whale at Oxford.
Design: Stuart Turner, 5A.
Valve(s): sv, Gear: Slip ecc..
1:1 chain drive to prop shaft, ecc driven fp, non condensing, link reverse being added.
BOILERV centre flue.
Built 1942 by Tom Goodhand at Gillingham, Kent.
Fuel: coal, Pressure: 70 psi.
V centre flue, 4" dia, with cross tube, shell 12" dia x 30" high, hand fp.
PROP3 blades, 9" dia..
Shaft: ¾" SS.
HISTORYThought to have been built as a motor boat tender for tanker SAN GERONIMO. Acquired by Jim Whale, steam plant fitted 1975 named LITTLE GEM. Sold 1978 to Ted Martin, Thames. 1981 sold to Chris Fincken, Kent and used on Royal Military Canal for a time, then layed up in a barn for 15 years. 1999 acquired by Adrian Grimmett and resold to present owners later in year. Being restored and renamed.
