The Committee of the SBA propose the adoption of compulsory SBA Disk display at their events with effect from April 2000.

• DISK PURPOSE
  To demonstrate to all interested parties compliance with SBA rules relating to Boiler Inspection & Third Party insurance.

• GUIDING PRINCIPLES
  The Disk will be valid for 12 months.
  Members will be required to present a valid boiler inspection certificate & certificate of third party liability insurance to the scheme administrator to obtain the Disk.
  Members will be responsible for ensuring that both Boiler Inspection Certificate & Insurance Certificate are valid for any events during the period of Disk validity.
  Members who are unable to obtain a Disk in time for an event will be issued with a disk valid for that one event on presentation of valid documents to any SBA Officer, Committee Member or the event organiser.

• INCENTIVE TO PARTICIPATE
  Members providing event organisers with a photocopy of their SBA Disk valid at the time of the event will not be expected to pay the SBA event booking fee.

• DUTIES OF SCHEME ADMINISTRATOR
  To check validity of boiler inspection certificate with regard to issuing authority, period of validity, properly authorised & issued, also that all relevant sections are completed.
  To check validity of third party insurance, that claims of value up to £2m are covered & that cover includes steam plant.

It was clarified at the AGM that the incentive to participate was valid for the transitional period April 1999 - March 2000 only and that the event organiser would receive the booking fee from SBA funds.
