Steam Launch AMETHYST
17ft x 5'6" double ended glass fibre hull. Originally a 1970s copy of a traditional sailing hull. Only draws about 18" fully loaded. Very solid. Purpose made cushions. Brass bilge pump and all equipment
Engine is a twin cylinder simple (2¼" x 2") Stuart Turner Swan, but without the ST pumps. Lubricator feeding cylinders, main bearings and crossheads. Feed pump is a 2 cylinder high pressure pump belt driven from engine. Engine is bolted to a bedplate and can be removed from boat in 10 minutes.
There is an engine bilge with a separate pump to a tank.
Boiler is a 150 Ib/hr copper, three drum blackstaffe boiler running at 125psi. The pressure vessel was built by Swindon Copper Boilers who overhauled it less than 40 hours steaming ago. The rest of the boiler was built by the owner after seeing other people's mistakes! It is easy to clean, Has a stainless steel superheater/steam dryer, whistle and a new safety valve. The steam plant is operated as a "puffer" from river water, but there are also two feedwater tanks holding about an hours supply each to allow steaming when out of the water or when the water is unsuitable. There is a hand feed pump. The boiler bedplate has almost all steam and water systems attached and can be removed in 30 minutes. There is a purpose built, galvanised trailer in very good condition with a "dry feet" launch and recovery system. There is a purpose made cover for when the boat is on the trailer.
The boat has not been in the water for several years (other interests), but is in good condition. The asking price will include a new boiler certificate and a new Boat Safety certificate. However, if you wish to get this done yourself the price is negotiable.
Can be viewed under cover near High Wycombe. £5000

Steam Launch HERO as a partially restored project.

S.L.Hero was built in approximately 1895 and was one of the first boats involved in the SBA. She is 35 ft long beam 5ft6 inches and a draft of 2ft.
Over the last 18 months a great deal of professional time has been spent on her replacing her keel, ribs and most of the underwater planking, the workmanship is of the highest quality. My circumstances have changed which results me in looking for someone who would like to take on the project. The majority of the work is done and she comes with a 10 hp Lifu engine and side fired boiler.
