This GRP hull was from the first batch of the Affordable steam boat hulls, now called the Sylvie. It was made from a Plug in the Clevedon area of Bristol, overseen by Mike Bell of the SBA.

This is a SBAS design WTB2, the design underwent a re evaluation and it is the first build to use Cunifer tube instead of Copper.

Engine

2 cyl compound. 2.5" + 5" X 2.5"

pv on HP, balanced sv on LP valve. Stephenson valve gear.
Power: 5 HP
This engine was built by Jim Buckel using the Leak design but scaling it down to the size of a Stuart 6a. It is fabricated throughout and fitted with cast iron liners. It is a substantial engine, compounding easily at 75 PSI, giving a boat speed of 6 mph at 120 PSI. Fitted with a belt driven air pump and Hypro boiler feed pump.

History

Aurelia is a new boat launched in 2014, after three years work, all the work was done by the owner, using the GRP Affordable Steam boat Hull.
