Boiler

Fuel: Coal, Pressure: 150 psi, Heating area: 14 sqft,
5.91" dia X 18" long Steel drum(s). 17 X 0.84" dia Steel tubes. weld less, drum ends attached by single stay construction,
selectable condensing or non-condensing, engine driven pump, hand pump, injector, steam feed pump, feed water heater, Windermere kettle, whistle,
Anthony Bever rotary scotch-crank steam feed pump fitted. This is a design that uses a ST no 4 cylinder. Superheater removed entirely after failure in 2021 and the engine now runs on wet steam. Exhaust can be deflected to condense or to puff. Crosshead-driven air pump returns condensate to oil separator/hotwell.

Boss 3 1/2-ins long, taper 1-in-12 on the diameter.


History

Built new for Adrian Birtles in 2009, 'Mazeppa' passed to Mark Rudall in 2017 and was mainly used on the River Wey navigations or the Thames. Sold in July 2023 she is now based in the York area under the ownership of Dr Graham Clark.
