The Original boiler was designed by Richard Mitchell with boiler inspector approval during construction. This design had copper fire tubes and operated at 130psi. From May 2025 boiler re-tubed with steel fire tubes with all boiler fittings specified as required.

Engine

2 cyl compound. 2.25" + 4.75" X 3.25"

Piston valve. SLRG with double-bar marine links valve gear.
Power: 7 HP
In 2022 this boat commenced a major refit to replace the original 2 cylinder oscillating engine with a rebuilt LIFU 10 IHP engine. Complete with new prop. shaft and new propeller. The boiler has been professionally re-assessed, re-tubed with steel fire tubes and uprated to operate at 250 psi.as required for correct operation of the LIFU engine. Expected return to service around May 2025.
